7th HEAVEN
A summary for the year...
As season three kicked off with joyous news for the Camdens, season four begins with tragedy. Overwhelmed by his day-to-day life and the prospect of having to tell his parents about the sudden marriage and pregnancy of his sister Julie to Dr. Hastings-the pressure mounts for Eric and he suffers a heart attack.
The family rallies around the Camden patriarch and as he recovers he develops a childlike appreciation for life. At Annie's suggestion, Eric takes a long overdue, stay-at-home vacation. Meanwhile, with Eric recovering and Matt moving out with his new roommate John-Simon attempts to assert his "man of the house" duties, as much as he can with four strong-willed women folk to attend to. Unfortunately, Eric's vacation is short-lived as Aunt Julie arrives at the Camden's doorstep packed and fully prepared to leave her new husband.
As Eric and Annie put on their matchmaker hats, it's obvious the baby has other plans, and before they are able to transport to a hospital the baby arrives early. The newlyweds are ultimately reunited and decide to name the baby Erica, after her ever-helpful uncle. It's a difficult year for the Camdens. Grandma Ginger arrives with bad news about Annie's father. He's in the early stages of Alzheimer's Disease. Annie refuses to believe it until she sees the awful truth for herself. Furthering the troubles, Mary and her basketball teammates rebel against their high school coach who decided to impose a lockout for the season-citing that the students should be top priority. Mary and the team break into the school gym and vandalize it. Mary is ultimately arrested, forced to do community service-and worst of all, loses her basketball scholarship she had worked so hard for.
On the brighter side, Matt has decided that medicine may be the way he want's to head in the future and his new uncle, Dr. Hastings, helps him find a position at the hospital. Matt and his girlfriend Shauna become close after he helps her confront her long-lost father who had abandoned her family 20 years ago. Unfortunately, the happiness doesn't last. Shauna announces that she is leaving to attend NYU. Naturally, this devastates Matt, who is hit by a double whammy when he discovers his own father provided a reference for Shauna. Luckily, Matt's friends and family are there to support him when Shauna leaves and they embark on a long-distance relationship. Mary realizes her community service isn't so bad when she meets Robbie there, and declares him the "man of her dreams." Needless to say, the elder Camdens aren't exactly pleased that Mary's dream guy is most likely a delinquent and allow the relationship to continue by phone only. But by the time Valentine's Day rolls around, Mary and Robbie gain the Camden trust and are allowed to go out on an actual date. Unfortunately, the date ends in disaster and the two call it quits. Meanwhile, Simon and Lucy are wrapped up in their own relationships, and even little Ruthie decides it's time and takes herself a mini-beau. But this year, Lucy puts boys on the backburner, as much as she can, and begins a serious interest in Habitat for Humanity.
Simon continues his relationship with Deena as they both experiment with love and even give each other love bites. And in one of the year's highlights, the family celebrates the twin's first birthday. However the season doesn't end on a high note. Mary makes the shocking announcement that not only has she decided to skip college in the fall but she's also planning on reuniting with Robbie-everyone's favorite hoodlum. And that's just the beginning of the Camden love crisis. Lucy goes out on a date with Robbie's older brother-clearly not good news for Eric and Annie. Simon and Deena can't seem to get past their issues and break off their two year relationship. And finally Shauna moves back to Glennoak for the summer and is surprised to find Matt buddies with his ex-flame Heather, who has confessed is still in love with him.
